    Hi folks, newbie-ish question

Any recommendations how to best change the first segment from SJO>IAH, to GUA>IAH for only one person in a family award booking? The wife needs to be in Guatemala for work and can't get back to SJO in time, and would be able to join up and make all the other flights and connections on our itinerary.

Can I do this myself online, or need to talk w/ agent?

    Thanks in advance

You'd have to split her out of the larger itinerary and then make any changes, I imagine. When you do this, her reservation will no longer be linked to the original in any way so your status or anything else will no longer apply in some cases. If you're 1K, you might be able to get them to waive the fees for the change.

Then no big deal as you'll pay the fees either way. :)

Keep in mind that splitting a reservation with partner flights in it also runs a risk of the partners rejecting the new reservation and losing the award segments. That's not a good thing at all.
