so i have my particular flight i am watching
    saverpass Y available
    easypass Y available
    ezpass F available

no saverpass F available but NF2

so big question is what is probability of the flight offering a saverpass F that i want so badly?
    its UA238 SAN-IAD dec 11 redeye.
is there anyway to gauge or just cross fingers and wait? (vs buy and CR1 it)

It depends on what you're trying to do... If you're trying to book a Domestic Saverpass F Award or Revenue and apply a CR1?

originally it was buy and get CR1...
now the wife wants to come on the ride
so it would be easier on me and the wallet/voucher notebook to get saver passes

OK, someone explain to me what a saverpass is, please. I suppose I'll go "aha" when I am told, but right now I am drawing a blank.

CO has 2 Award levels... Saver Pass (Lowest) and Easy Pass (High) unlike UA with Low/Medium/High...

I thought UA also had only two levels - Saver and Standard?

You are correct. DL is the only US-based carrier with three levels currently.

To the OP, no way to know if the award seats will open or not; it is a gamble either way. The minor advantage of a CR1 is tha you can waitlist for the upgrade rather than stalking the inventory but still no guarantees.

If the OP is a Chase Continental OnePass Plus or Presidential Plus cardholder, there is a chance of an upgrade (EUA) on a reward tkt, but the priority is in order of elite status and the OP would have to wait until the applicable EUA window to see if they are upgraded.
