    Hi Everyone,

I'm booked LHR-DFW-LAX on Saturday and it is pretty full F0/J2/Y4. I'm thinking NO upgrade is happening on this one...which is okay as I paid for a fairly cheap Y ticket.

The direct LHR-LAX flight is F4/J5/Y7 with lots of seat options in Y.

While I actually prefer the layover on such long flights (and a few more EQM), is there any chance the airport might consider putting me on the direct flight with minimal or no cost?

I know I can ask, and at worst they say no, but figured I'd solicit the forum's thoughts. I will of course ask once I'm at the airport...carry on only this week. ;)

    Thanks!

    :)

No personal experience, but posts on TOBB seem to indicate it can be a YMMV kind of thing. Technically, it's a no; reality might prove different. Your best luck might be if your flight goes to Y0.

Let us know how it goes!

That's what I figured. In the absence of checked bags, I think it will be easier. Space in the Y cabin the DFW flight keeps shrinking...and my sister would not mind if I showed up a couple of hours early... ;)

Standby on international flights is not allowed.

Obviously in IRROPs they'll change you around but generally speaking its not gonna happen on a whim. :(

Right, and I would not expect it to. :) UNLESS, they can use my seat to DFW for someone else.

Since they canceled the LHR-DFW flight use as the final international leg on the MegaDO, there just might be a few stranded souls who need to get to DFW. But if it's a Sat flight, too late to help. ;)

It would help if your current flight departs first. You would essentially be volunteering at the gate for VDB without compensation. Of course, airlines occasionally try to do proactive rerouting when they expect huge oversells and in such cases they rarely call the day before and ask whether you are willing to be rescheduled onto the nonstop.

I looked at EF again...we're up to J5 Y6...but it's still a few days away. At worst, I ask, they say no, and I stay put. :)

Exactly. It never hurts, as long as expectations are set accordingly ;)
