Just a thought, shouldn't we start a dedicated Centurion Lounge forum/thread somewhere? I know there are only two of them around, but there will be four by the end of the year and the total of twelve to come (at least I was told that by a CL manager at LAS in January)

I would assume they get discussed under the AmEx forum, just like the airline lounges get discussed in the forums of the respective airlines.

Actually, I didn't find a dedicated thread or forum anywhere. That's why I asked.

Any news on a Centurion lounge being built in Canada?

Not that I know of. I think they were first going to roll out CLs in US.

And, similar to airline lounges being discussed in the forums of the airline that's where lounges from AmEx would be discussed, no??

You said before that you couldn't find the forum. That's why I shared the link.

I couldn't find a dedicated forum for the subject. If my thread fits better in that section you suggested then perhaps Mods could move it there.

No lounges have their own dedicated forum. They are typically discussed in the forum related to their owner/operator. Hence my initial suggestion.

It appears that this thread has been moved to the Amex forum, so there's no further reason to discuss that.

At my most recent two visits to the LAS lounge it was much, much more crowded that before, to the point of hard to find an unoccupied sitting group, and queues for food and at the bar, and it seemed to me that the food had been downgraded somewhat - primarily starches. It had been 6 or 8 months since my previous visit. Still better than any other domestic lounge, but less and less worth a detour.

I suspect at some point Amex may need to do something to either limit the number of complimentary visits or guests per year, or introduce a co-pay, if only to control the crowding. Still glad they are showing an alternative to UC, AC & SC.

    You mean reintroduce a co-pay, right?? ;)

Remember that when the lounges first launched only Centurion cardholders got in for free. Platinum and other cards all paid a fee. That was changed less than a year in; I'm guessing AmEx had a strong reason for making the change so quickly.

I think the original reason was that they were deserted and being underutilized. They may have overcorrected and need to find a happy medium. Maybe Platinum cardholders get two free visits per year and then $10/person co-pay or something in between the $50 full fee and the current unlimited. The other reason, of course, is losing CO and US club access over the last couple of years.

I visited in early March and it was not crowded at all around 5PM In LAS. It was a delightful visit. Great food, and complimentary top shelf booze.
If they do impose limits or copays ala Delta, I think you'll see some folks give up the Platinum Card altogether. With only partial Delta acceptance, there's no further justification to having the card if they mess with Lounge Access--assuming that's your primary motivation of course.

I don't get why we'd need a 'forum' as opposed to a thread for these lounges. just my .02 worth.

Thanks. Second question. Would the American Express Platinum from Canada give access to CLs in the US?

Yes - I have used my AX Platinum card for the CL in LAS and plan to use it for SFO next week. No issues when I presented it.

AX appears to have a relationship with the Plaza Premium lounges in Canada - at least in YYZ.

It still says "early 2015," which I suppose gives them until March 15.

I see they have one in T3 at LAX, so it might be worth my while upgrading a card to use it.

    Here's a link to the FAQs: http://thecenturionlounge.com/info/faq
