Cathay purchases four 777-300ER aircraft Cathay Pacific has announced an order for four more Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, expected to be delivered to the carrier between 2013 and 2016 as part of Cathay’s plans to retire older B747 and A340 aircraft. The carrier has ordered a total of 12 Boeing aircraft – four B777-300ER passenger planes, and eight B777-200 freighters. Cathay currently operates 22 B777-300ERs, and now has a total of 28 of the aircraft on order, gradually replacing its 21 B747-400s and 13 A340-300s by the end of the decade.
