The new product looks fantastic so I'm busy accumulating enough miles to hopefully get on one of these flights to try it myself!

Change isn't always a good thing. Look at the last generation J seats and current longhaul Y seats

Not really when you see the shell Y and the coffin J

But top marks for facing their fault, and stepping up to fix it.

come on. change from the old J to the new J is a good thing. that is the context of my remarks. if you suggest change from the old J to the new J is not good, by all means let me know on what basis you come to such conclusion but if your remark is general in nature only, then i would agree with it on the same general level as the general statement you have made.

same response to you as JALPak. again, top marks for changing IS SPECIFICALLY directed at change from old J to new J....jeesh do you have to spell this out in detail?

You might have tried it at their event but you haven't flown in the new J seats yet and you already gave them a top mark specifically for this change. A bit premature isn't it?

you may think so but i have seen enough. having flow between HKG-YYZ 12 times in the coffin J, CX "will" get top marks from me when i travel in the new J compared to the J. i can guarantee it.

On a related topic, has there been any further word about premium economy, which had been rumoured to launch at the same time as the new J seat but about which CX obfuscated at that time?

It's just a rumor and it didn't happen when they reveal the new J seats last Dec.

Some people praised about the current J and how it was an improvement over the previous one before launch too as I recall ;) And the current Y too until they actually sat there for 12+ hours

sorry, i mean current and i thought they were close to having one out but i could be wrong. in any case, if you have flown a lot with a family of 3 in the current J, you too, i would hope, we be willing to concede to CX that it is a vast improvement.

I think the new seats will be welcome and feel more spacious, but frankly I have no problem with the "coffin" style herringbone seating they have currently, and certainly they are more comfortable (and offer more stretched-out legroom) than the JL older or newer shell flat (slanted) product, for example.

Like the look of the new J seat, but still prefer the F seat.

The points from my weekend trip down to Canberra posted earlier this week, and I'm now booked on CX110 (SYD-HKG) in November. By which time the Cirrus product should be on the route daily!

AusBT have also put up a first look review after the inaugural flight. Looks even better than in the promotional shots.

New CX J is pretty much the same seat as US's Envoy suite, which I have tried, and I'd say it's loads better than the current CX J seat.

I like the bit in AusBT that says "The upgraded seats are also tipped to appear on the 777-300ER which will launch Cathay's new direct Hong Kong-Chicago flight (CX806/805) on September 1st." And the seats do seem gorgeous!

Just back on CX139, couldn't organise the time to change to 101 and try the new product unfortunately. The cabin crew I spoke with had trained in the new product and said they liked it, but had yet to do a real trip with the upgraded product.
