Later this year Carlson will begin rolling out two new flags.

Quorvus Collection will launch in late 2014. It expects to compete with Leading Hotels of the Word, JW Mariott, ect.

Radisson Red will launch in 2015 with properties opening around the world. Red will compete with Hotel Indigo and others and will offer services such as mobile check-in.

How confusing. You'd think that Radisson Blu would compete with Hotel Indigo and Radisson Red would be a Latin American chain with free internet.

Quorvus has launched now with three properties, two of which are former Hotel Missoni properties (now that they've exited the hotel business and Carlson-Rezidor) and one is/was a Radisson Blu Edwardian, the May Fair in London. So all three properties have already been in the Carlson-Rezidor portfolio.

I've stayed a couple of times at the G&V in Edinburgh (1 of the 3 Quorvus properties launched). It has a quirky African colonial theme, and some nice touches in the rooms, but I'd equate it more with Starwood's W, or IHG's Hotel Indigo in styling and market sector. The only thing elevating the G&V is being right on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, but then so is the Radisson Blu...

I have a stay at the G&V in october. From the website, I though the rooms were pretty small for an upscale hotel. And also no bath?
How would you rate your stays there, @adl73x ?

The stays have been great. The rooms aren't large, but neither are they as pokey as many London hotels.

I think there was a bath at least once when I've stayed.

    Great view though!

I think the idea is that that the public won't think of them as 'Quorvus' hotels, but rather as pusedo-independent hotels, much like SPG's luxury collection or Marriott's autograph. Hence they picked a word which no one knows how to pronounce.
