Yes, traffic was particularly bad around the area most of the night. Lots of spectators who heard about it and wanted to go see it. Thankfully it was only a cargo plane and not full of passengers...
Very very bad day for Lagos airport- a Dana Air passenger plane, 147 people on board, crashed into the downtown area.
I think Nigerias airlines are all on my no-fly list. Dana Air's website: http://www.flydanaair.com/ Looks like they haven't gotten around to putting any press release up, but they've apparently canceled all flights for Monday. Interesting how they show a lot of pictures of a modern 737 (with winglets) in their livery on their website, but all they fly are old MD-80s (according to Wikipedia and their own website).
News reports are now saying the Dana Air flight was an MD83.They don't seem to have any handle on how many people were killed on the ground, it sounds horribly chaotic.
