The Chicago Rockford International Airport has been trying to woo more international cargo business for years, and it’s about to land something big: Boeing Co.’s new jumbo cargo jet.

Cargo airlines buying the 747-800 asked Boeing to help them get 14 airports around the country, including Rockford, a Federal Aviation Administration waiver that allows them to accommodate the largest plane Boeing has built.

They have the space and open land to do any needed runway improvements, and they are well located to be a cargo hub.
