I just spoke to BA. They told me that LAN doesn't allow Avios redemption on AEP/Igauzu Falls Argentina.

I find this very hard to believe? Anyone have any idea??

    The Agent was obviously wrong:

    [KVS Availability Tool 6.9.8/Diamond - Amadeus: Awards/BA-OneWorld]
    Code:
AEP Buenos Aires Jorge Newbery BA AR [SABE]
IGR Iguazu Cataratas MI AR [SARI]
    TUE 01 May 2012

Carrier Flight From Depart To Arrive St Availability
    --------- ------ ---- -------- ---- -------- --- -- ------------
    LA/4M 4030 AEP 15:10 IGR 17:00 YS5

I was waiting for this. ;) The only reason that I didn't is that I don't know the BA/LAN system.

In this case the hang up/call back thingy is propably very astute advice because there have been many reports that many BA CSRs are not even aware of the existence of Lan Argentina nor its code, 4M
(corrected .. as per post below)

Yes. Even I can see it.

Avios are quite useful if you can avoid BA, all TATL flying, and need e.g. intra-AUS or intra-LatAm redemptions on carriers like LA or QF. I just need the award bucket to open BOG to SMR on the days required for Shark family vac.

Dare I say, they are slightly more useful than the Miles that are *best in class*

9000 points per person roundtrip. If I were to pay (har-har), LAN wants ~$500 USD.

No wonder if that's the code you're giving them....B4 = Zanair

    4M = Lan Argentina

    Thanks for the correction :)
I personally did not have any problems booking various LAN itineraries using BA miles including AGP/IGR, EZE/SCL/LIM/CUZ/LIM the SCL/LIM leg was in Business and was a good use of 20k miles per ticket.

Does anyone know if BA or LAN has changed their policy on this? I went to BA.com and IGR is not showing up at all as a destination.

Solved the problem-was trying to use EZE. Flights are only from AEP

I just booked the exact same flight for 7,500 Avios + £22 in taxes, calling EC, took 5 minutes.
