I'm thinking of canceling my BA Visa, but I still have a companion certificate in my account that expires at the end of 2014. Will I lose it if I cancel the card? Does anyone know for sure? I guess I could pay the annual fee as insurance... Although with the high LHR fees, and uncertainty with being able to redeem due to other travel/life plans... maybe I can just let it go :( :)

    any insight appreciated!

You need to check the T&Cs. I suspect they will be similar to those that apply to the companion ticket offered in conjunction with the BA UK Amex card, which has an express term that you must continue to hold the card to make use of the companion voucher.

    The saint is correct.

You cannot use the companion voucher if the owner of same does not have the BA visa.
