Does anyone know if this is going to affect AA's schedule come Thursday? I would like to make appropriate arrangements before cancellations occur; plus I'm flying out of DFW!

We're future predictors! That's what the internet is all about right? Future speculation?

So the union says they're not supporting a sick-out? Would anyone like to buy some oceanfront property in Arizona? (Apologies to George Strait)

There's a long thread about this on FT. A good "early warning" system seems to be the AAcargo website which seems to be showing the cancellations before pax are informed and before AA.com.

This report does not bode well for future travel on AA
'Book away from American this fall,' expert warns

    Link

"Book away from American this fall."

That's the take from Scott McCartney, the respected Middle Seat columnist for The Wall Street Journal. He's advising his readers from booking away from American Airlines for travel this fall, saying that the airline's operation "is in shambles" and that the carrier has become too unreliable.

McCartney's assessment comes as American is -- as The Associated Press puts it -- "is fighting with unhappy pilots." American, of course, has used the bankruptcy court to void its pilots union contract, a move that's drawn the ire the carrier's pilots.

    By Scott McCartney

If you’re making travel plans for this fall, avoid American Airlines. American has become too unreliable.
The carrier, reorganizing in bankruptcy court, has begun implementing cuts in pay, benefits and time off and outsourcing more flying to regional airlines. Pilots at American are doing what they (and pilots at other airlines) have done before — reacting angrily and hurting passengers. Pilots are calling in sick, moving airplanes slowly and grounding flights for broken parts that wouldn’t normally delay a flight. The pilots’ union denies any orchestrated action and blames management for operational problems.
American’s operation is in shambles. On Sunday, only 48% of American flights arrived on-time, and 25.6% were at least 45 minutes late, according to FlightStats.com, a flight-tracking service. American canceled 92 flights on Sunday, or 5% of its schedule.

That should be taken as good news for American. When a "news" story finally makes it into the WSJ, it's virtually guaranteed that the process has run its course.
While the situation is pretty bad at AA now, it should start emerging from bankruptcy shortly.

Likely to be a topic of conversation at HOM this week (and copied into that thread, too). I called tonight and I've been re-accomodated on a UA flight shortly after. Dangit, I'd avoided UA this entire year... glad I still have Platinum status with them.

Not just because I need the AS credit, but this is good reason to book on DL through October, I'd bet.

The pilots are not helping their cause. US pilots did the same thing last year and the company got an injunction...oh now they have one MORE thing in common...;)
Really, you don't make your point by hurting your customers and your revenue stream.
