Can you transfer A+ credits between people for free somehow?

I seem to recall reading something about how in transferring A+ credits to Southwest and back you could not only keep them alive and potentially arbitrage against deflation, there was a way to transfer the credits between people. But in looking at it now, since the wife just earned her 34 credits from the Chase AirTran card bonus + the $2K in spend, I can't see any way to do it. If I go to Southwest and login, go to my account, click on transfer between A+ and Southwest and enter her login to AirTran while I'm logged into Southwest, it bitches about the names not being the same. And both AirTran and Southwest only seem to offer transfers for a fee.

Seems I was mistaken. Not the end of the world, just thought I'd check if there's some trick here.
