    Hi,

I know there is discussion about the newsstand postings anyway, but here's what I was looking at today as I went to the "What's new" list of threads:

    blog-flood.jpg

Should the same thread really be listed 6+ times in the list of new threads?

Thanks for looking into ways to reduce this.

    Cheers,

Just ignore the Boarding Area user. It cleans up the forums quite nicely.

That's one option, but I still want to see some of the blog entries at times. I just don't need to see the same one over and over and over again.

However, if nothing changes, that's the road I will go. Which raises the question: is that what Milepoint wants us to end up doing or does the model need to be changed?

    Cheers,

Well, the multiple posts is a bug in the software, not a feature. It isn't supposed to happen that way though it sometimes does. One of my posts was the offending bit some months back.

I just think that the feed that way - without context or discussion - is bad business both for MP and BA. But my views have been outvoted on this one.

Funny, I was just reading throgh some posts and found this one that is related.

    http://milepoint.com/forums/threads/are-bloggers-ruining-milepoint.35507/

Although I enjoy reading the blogs, my only complaint when I hit the "whats new" forum link, sometimes 90% of the posts are blogs from BoardingArea. I want to see what people are actually commenting on and discussing, not a link to a blog. I kinda wish that instead of the "continue reading" option, the entire article was in MilePoint and comment to encourage discussion.

Then perhaps the blog author could have just started a thread here, and there would be no (or less of a) need for many of the blogs. But it's harder to sell credit cards here. ;)

And that's where the suggestion to "ignore" the BoardingArea user will get you what you are looking for.

Does MP have a policy on bloggers posts?

Specifically, a thread such as: I stayed at X property, I posted about in my blog (add link).

Does little for MP, IMO, I'm here to read MP, not click off to blogland.

I may be in the minority, but I didn't mind having the blog posts' headlines listed in 'What's New' - as I don't have the capacity to subscribe to all the blogs! I appreciated seeing a relevant headline & clicking on the link to read a particular entry. Of course, I did not like it when a blog headline was repeated several times as pointed out in post #1!

It's not a complete fix, but you can now "Watch" forums and not just individual threads. Good if you want a quick link to them (and any other forums you prefer) next to the "New Posts"

Thanks - hadn't thought of that (as it's such a new feature)!:)
