    Hi All,

My niece has to make a last minute trip in a few days. I was wondering if anyone knows if I can book the ticket for her using my AA miles?

    Thanks very much,
    Jason

I would book as soon as possible or award space may disappear.

Trouble is, AA charges a Short-Notice Fee if you book < 21 days in advance :td: ! But BA Avios are usable on AA & there is NO such fee. Both airlines allow us to book for any relative or friend we want.

However if the OP has AA status ( and its worth noting he said " a last minute trip" which implies reduced inventory) and if the trip is within NA , he will be able to book an AA Dynamic award (in which case Avios are useless.....that is assuming he does have Avios:))

These awards seem to often come come with increased inventory are in many cases just a tad more expensive than AASavers awards and in even some instances lower than those awards ( in fact these can turn out be the lowest cost awards in the AA program)

Unless you have status. ExPlt no fee but I don't know about the others

I was looking at options for award travel later this week. Even with no status I saw some saver options which would get me where I wanted to be. Bad connections so Avios were out, but just because something is last minute doesn't mean sAAver seats aren't there.

True enough but there are instances where even when SAAavers are available if one checks for the Dynamic awards you can find them with better connections and sometimes at lower milage redemption rates than even the regular sAAver awards..
