I have an unused CO BOS-LHR ticket and would like to use the balance (minus the change fee, of course) to buy a UA NYC-OGG ticket. If I call CO should they be able to apply the old CO ticket to the all UA itinerary?

Also, can I buy two tickets on the same PNR and still use the old ticket toward the one ticket? For upgrade purposes, do not want to separate the reservations.

One easy way might be to try to buy the UA flight as a CO codeshare on CO ticket stock through CO, if possible and if there aren't other disadvantages of doing the codeshare for you.
