Can a Bonus post before an actual stay...?

    Is it possible for one of the associated bonuses of a given stay to be posted to a member's account before the actual stay credit and points is posted on the account...?

    I ask this becase I just spent one night at the Sheraton Colonia and Ive just seen a very small credit of 74 starpoints posted to my account... but my Stay Counter does not reflect this last stay (it didnt move +1 from the previous count), and also, given my payment of a US$150 rate I am guessing that the 74 starpoints posted are for incidentals.... which were about US$50....

    Is is therefore possible that the points for my actual stay will post after the incidentals....?

    I believe the best way to find out the reason behind the postings of your Starpoints for this particular stay would be to reach out to SPG to inquire.

    Was this a prepaid rate? My incidentals usually post at the same time since they are included in the final bill for my room. Also, assuming that the $50 incidentals were all eligible for SPG points, shouldn't it be about 100 or 150 points, depending on your status, plus eventually another 100 points for the current promo (double)?

    Could the hotel have charged you for something after you left, such as minibar consumption or an item that they forgot to bill?

    Since you're (currently?) in South America, I would probably start by contacting the hotel. If they don't resolve the points and bill to your satisfaction, you'll probably have to eventually send a copy of the bill to SPG.

    Thank you MSPEconomist..... you raise some good points. I think I will contact SPG about this first using the links provided above, I have more faith in them than I do with contacting the hotel directly.

    I will come back and report the results.

    OK... so the online Chat agent reviewed my account and removed the incorrect credit for F&B, which wasnt the right amount in any event.... I spent $54 on food and beverages and the points they credited were 74.... this doesnt add up. The amount I quote does not include taxes.... the hotel invoice I have was billed nett of all taxes, so I should have received at least 100 starpoints for that.

    Also, the hotel didnt give me the proper stay and room rate credits... so it appears that the Agent will contact the hotel to have them rectify this.

    Will report back once all this is settled.

    I am still missing the FourSquare bonus and also the Iphone App booking bonus.....
