Call Center Question

    How can I make sure when I call United that I can get a US based agent???

    I don't think there's any guaranteed way unless you're a GS or 1K member. Even as a 1K, on very, very rare occasions, I've been routed to the ICC. However, I've read elsewhere that recently there's been a change whereby all UA/CO elites now will only get US agents. I can't confirm though.

    All elites are getting US-based call centers as of July 1, I believe.

    Except when they don't. Last week dialed 1K line,

    "Agent. Agent. Domestic."

    Outsourced agent comes up, "You know, we have a special desk for you to call? May I transfer you to it?"

    <hold>

    Umm... that's what I called! But sure, this was actually going to be a complicated call, changing a trip that was already started and where future segments had been upgraded, it took some real doing to get it repriced.
