How can I make sure when I call United that I can get a US based agent???
I don't think there's any guaranteed way unless you're a GS or 1K member. Even as a 1K, on very, very rare occasions, I've been routed to the ICC. However, I've read elsewhere that recently there's been a change whereby all UA/CO elites now will only get US agents. I can't confirm though.
All elites are getting US-based call centers as of July 1, I believe.
Except when they don't. Last week dialed 1K line,
"Agent. Agent. Domestic."
Outsourced agent comes up, "You know, we have a special desk for you to call? May I transfer you to it?"
Umm... that's what I called! But sure, this was actually going to be a complicated call, changing a trip that was already started and where future segments had been upgraded, it took some real doing to get it repriced.
