Can't control the weather. It's just part of cruising.

Doesn't seem to interest the passengers who have some very different ideas on what cruising entails and what not.

Hard to tell from the article how accommodating or not the cruise line was, is, will be. I am sure there is moar to the tail than is in the article.

As do I, however if the cruise had a destination then that is what was purchased by most I would think.

I suspect it would have been cheaper for Cunard to go to Amsterdam as planned than to steam around the channel the entire time. Sometimes travel plans don't work out as planned, no matter what the mode of transportation. Winter storms in the channel and North Sea aren't unheard of.

No argument there. You could say why did they not just return to port, but then the cruise line would have had to refund even more. Sadly in this situation they were well within their contractual rights I believe even though it is unfortunate.

Yes, every cruise T&Cs I have seen had a clause that the itinerary is subject to change. It is unfortunate, but I don't think it's an avoidable risk. Weather and port conditions aren't under the control of the cruise lines.

I was on a glacier cruise in Alaska and ship had mechanical issues that prevented us from sailing Glacier Bay so we saw no glaciers on glacier cruise (I did only b/c I did a helicopter glacier hike in port) - ship gave $150 OBC. I never heard cursing in so many languages. safety is priority and my travel insurance didn't cover mechanical. Every cruise person should know that weather is key to safety

Any cruise that I'm not working below decks on is a good cruise! Sea days are great days!
Edit / add: 102 straight days at sea!
