As predicted on FT, the DL option to purchase MQMs is live today. Unlike previous years, it is HIGHLY targeted, with prices varying by a factor of up to about two. For the maximmum purcchase of 10,000 MQMs, the prices range from $1075 (an increase of abouut 7.5% from last year) to $1,995 (an increase of about 100%), with four price level schemes being reported so far. You can only see your prices when you log in to begin the purchase process. Higher level elites are seeing generally higher prices.

These are pure MQMs and will rolllover if eligible.

Here I was resigned to becoming a GM next year, but with this offer and a quick G fare MR to SFO and back I could eke out PM. Now trying to decide if PM is worth that much more than GM. I would get one choice benefit, and free award ticket changes for another year. And maybe my calls would be answered by HIBRES.

It's interesting (not in a good way) that prices can be different even within the same medallion level. For example, another Gold in a blog is seeing $1499 for 10k MQM while I am "only" being asked $1195 as a Gold for 10k. Does that make it a bargain for me?! lol

One choice benefit is the $200 DL voucher, so $200 is a floor to the value of PM over GM.

On FT, we've concluded the offer is targeted and some have been denied the opportunity to purchase MQMs.

I interpret the data as suggesting that the prices are based more on what DL currently believes will be your elite status for next year.

Muahaha! Yet again, this cannot be anything other than

[IMG] MEJOR EN SU CLASE [IMG]

I will say, there is some relative data-mining sophistication to target individuals like this. That's what all those back-end metrics are for.

Just as a data point, I logged in to DL.COM. As you all here know, I'm MM/CAFO/with near zero MQM/MQD over the rolling two-year period (Huh, Jeff?!! You mean, no MQD for all that paid BE flying to/from RGN?! :p)

Hey, you DL apologists! JEFF GIVES ME A DEAL!! $475 per 2500 MQM!! $675 for 5000 MQM!!

Woo-hoo!! Now you know for sure it's better to be a GENERAL MEMBER than a DIAMOND GAMER!

But. As ever the real problem is, Jeff presumes the DL Medallion "product" is actually worth a buy-up.

Yes agree it is based on your projected 2014 year medallion level as of now. For me - current PM that is just under 75k ytd - got GM pricing since that is my 2014 outcome until I fly or buy more.

DeltaExpert, if you look at the FT link, pricing is not consistent across all Medallion levels based on FTers' feedback.

I know the bloggers seem to be passing around this information and one says it came from DL, but it's not apparently consistent in practice.

Agreed, especially since there are DMs looking at GM in 2014 who have received Tier 3 pricing.

But I am still below 50K MQMs, so I got Tier 3 pricing.

My e-mail offer from Delta read: "Gold Medallion Status Could Be Yours"

Hehehe, you are a real CAFO fer sure.

Sorry, I mixed the Jeffspeak with normal parlance about DL SM. CAFO = "Complimentary Annual" FO. Or perhaps "ultimate Kayaker." Because there is no such thing as "lifetime" FO in the NewRealDL...

Nevertheless, even if Jeff doesn't my business, he wants me to buy his low-priced MQMs... for about $2,500 I could purchase...well, what I already have, FO status! :) To actually jump a Medallion rank I'd have to purchase 50k MQMs just like a kettle and that's not possible anyway. NIce try!

Get your miles real quick, so you can use them on MH prior to 5/1/2014.

I could not find anything about buying mqm's on when signing into my account. When I clicked on the link provided in this thread I entered my skymiles number and was able to purchase 10,000 mqm's for $1,195.00. I am currently Gold but was going to be short 7000 miles to maintain Gold. I don't care about the upgrades as much because I never seem to get them. I really like having the sky priority line though. I just signed up for global entry also. Here's to hoping 2014 air travel will go smoothly :)

Too bad you're not able to get someone who is a general member to buy them for you and give them as a gift.

Currently Platinum with Gold MQMs earned to date. Have booked flights that put me back into Platinum for next year. My MQM purchase offer was for Gold tier, which is a hefty price increase over last year. I bought 10K for the rollover. Listen. Priority luggage tags work. Customer service for me as Platinum is exceptional, including the refund of a changed ticket fee. Personnel thank me for being a MillionMiler. First and BusinessElite crew are friendly and remember my name. It's not the old days of Royal Medallion, but Delta is trying. I prize Platinum status.
