Budapest was one of out favorite cities to visit, and is similar to Prague or Krakow for food, nightlife, fun, and friendly people. If I had only one chance to return to a city, it would most probably be Budapest.

I'll let others post pictures of the city. I'll stick to some FOOD. So many times at another forum, I wished I could post these pictures of the market. It CANNOT be missed. We did not go there until our last day, and it was our biggest mistake. Enjoy the pictures.

These are two transports you need to know. (besides the deep subways)

The cute little yellow line that takes you out to the Opera and Okatagon, and the Hot pools

and Tram #2 that connects the city along the river

The old yellow subway will take you past Opera, to Oktogon (or it's a nice walk) for a trendy restaurant row at Lizt Ferenc Ter. We ate at several, but enjoyed Menza the most.

The central market. You can take tram #2, or walk down the "tourist street" Vaci U. Buy some salami to take home, and some spices.

Now..........FOR LUNCH........you cannot beat this selection and price. You have to go up to the 2nd floor, and be prepared to get dizzy with trying to make a choice of WHERE to eat, and then WHAT to eat. Point and stuff yourself.......that's what we did.

I have to agree, ChgoBob, Budapest is a terrific city & will run back as soon as I have the opportunity. Here are a few of my faves from 2008.
