Looking to book an award ticket JFK-CDG in Late June, and then departing from CGN back to JFK in early July. I wanted to get the community input on the best method...so far I was going to dump 25K UR pts into a MP account that has 25K so I can have a total of 50,000 miles -enuff for a business class ticket.
However, Im not finding a Saver Business award on united.com for going there....just coming back.
Previously, I have seen seats open up a few days before departure, so I guess I could wait....OR ..I could book a confirmed coach seat on the day I want to depart, which I see open. Interestingly, I don't see any of these flights if I select R/T....but if I search one way, I see them. What y'all think? :)

If you're gonna do Y going and J back you should do 2 OW anyways.
If you're flexible, and have status then wait. J might open up.

Yeah--starting to look that way. If I book the return now, can I add on later? Or do I just book the JFK-CDG segment as a one way also, if J opens up.....

Are 50,000 miles enough for a RT award ticket in business class?

Since you don't have any stopovers or anything crazy, I would book the return now, and if you're elite book the Y then if/when J opens up book J & cancel the Y.

If you arent elite ... same thing but be aware of the fees.

No its 50k each way. So a RT would be 100k

Yep--the MP account is no elite, and I hate to lose these seats...considering its summer travel. I might just do this now: Transfer UR pts into the MP acct, book the one way JFK-CDG and then book the one way CGN-JFK. She wanted to rent a car and drive through the countryside of France to Germany anyways.

In that case, why not look for JFK/EWR -> BRU -> Germany?

She is insisting to land in Paris first.....then drive to Germany (Bonn to be exact).

Why Bonn especially? It's a nice small town, but there are other more impressive places to visit in Germany.
