It would be surprising, if it indeed was on market terms. It is not, therefore not that surprising.

    No surprise :D

The airline has also tried some creative marketing, including teaming up with a lingerie store last month to offer an in-flight fashion show featuring Colombian and Bolivian models parading down the aisles of a Boeing 737 in revealing underwear.

That great! I remember flying on a domestic flight there about seven years ago. I think it was on the airline run by Bolivia's military? A couple of people had no seats and stood in the back of the plane. It seemed very normal in Bolivia where everyone is always jambed on top of each other on the busses.

Are you sure it wasn't run by Michael O'Leary?

I also found that promo pretty funny.

    Did you fly TAM??

When I went to Peru we were so close to Bolivia but ran out of time & could not get there. Hopefully another time.

The government probably is succeeding due to unfair practices. However a gov ran airline doing well is rare these days. In recent years others have been privatized etc..

I would like to add to my comment above by saying that the month I spent in Bolivia was one of the best of my world travels. An amazing spectrum of places to see, things to do and friendly people to meet. This is most true if you like outdoor activities.
