Bmi Regional to drop Aberdeen-Groningen route

    || Bmi Regional to drop Aberdeen-Groningen route ||

    It's an interesting pattern, this route was flown by BMI Regional since 2004 to success it seems, but all of a sudden there's a dramatic drop in demand since a few month now, and this makes the route unsustainable. Sad to see this route go, IMHO it was one of the more "exotic" short-haul routes from Aberdeen and the UK as a whole. It's always sad to see capacity cut or taken away. Maybe in the future demand will pick up again and another airline picks up this route, it happened before IMHO.

    That's sad news, especially as it links two of Europe's most important Oil&Gas cities. I do hope GRQ can add a few more destinations, even if short-haul. That might take the strain off North NL residents having the 2-hour trek to AMS.

    Sad news - this route was on my list of "exotic" routes to be flown...
