So I have not gotten involved in the Bluebird thing, but I am reconsidering. For the bluebird experts out there, is there a way to fund via credit card for those of us who may have limited access to Vanilla reloads. Please PM if you don't want to share on the forum. I've searched through blogs and have not been able to find an answer so I thought I would go the lazy route and ask you all. Thanks.

If that were possible, nobody would ever use the Vanilla Reload cards. You can load directly with a miles earning DEBIT card, but not CC.

I know you can't fund directly with a credit card. I was wondering if there were other indirect methods like vanilla.

Yes there are different ways to fund the BB other than using VR's... Similar fashion but not with the Vanilla Reloads. Some options are available through CC purchase at your local store (and then you fund it similar to the VR's). PM me if you want some more direct information.

You can use a miles earning debit card (I have the Suntrust Delta one) and you can use the Wells Fargo prepaid debit card which you can fund with certain credit cards. I have found the WF card to be a pain. I was trying to earn more UR points. Today I found a local CVS that has the VR and you can pay with a credit card. If they continue to allow this I may close the WF card.

Just seeing this for the first time. Help me if I'm not understanding this correctly.

One can open a bluebird card & use it to pay bills. BB card itself doesn't offer any rewards, but you can use various other rewards cards to purchase or reload a vanilla visa, transfer the vanilla $ to BB, then use BB to pay the CC used for the vanilla purchase.

    Correct?

It's not completely free to do this...the VR cards cost $3.95, so you're paying nearly 1% on a $500 VR card. If you have the Hilton card you can get 6X at CVS which makes this worthwhile (although this bonus is ending soon). Otherwise, I don't think it's worth it if you're not getting the bonus points. However, as Kalboz mentioned, it's a good way to meet minimum spend.

Additionally, the smartest move with BB would be to pay bills besides your CC that you ordinarily couldn't pay for with a cc - like mortgage/rent, student loans, car payments, etc. My wife has about $2,000 left on her car loan, and I'm going to be paying it off in Feb, with BB funds.

Oh, it's plenty worth it @ 0.8%. There are also ways blogged about to get 5x UR points still, so even when the drugstore 6x pipeline runs dry, people are still going to be buying them in droves.

Looking at bb site it says there's a $2 fee & $100/day limit on funding from a debit card; does vanilla count as a debit card, or something else? Would reloadit cards work here as well?

There's no fee for loading your BB account with a Vanilla Reload card.

Right...he was asking about the Bluebird fees for loading with a debit card and wanted to know if VR's are counted as debit cards.

Vanilla Reloads are considered a Cash Funding Source in the T&C's which has no extra fees. You can find all of this on Bluebird.com and going to FAQ.
