    Greetings all.

Can anyone who regularly flies thru Bangkok tell me if Thai immigration/passport control there has a current policy of fingerprinting tourist arrivals from "Western" countries?

I had never had fingerprinting done to myself, or heard of this as a procedure.

Nope. Thailand is more friendly and welcoming to visitors than say USA or Japan.

Yes, far more friendly... also same goes to Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Macau... not the same thru for Indonesia though... they try to wear you out during the looooong wait...

    Thanks for the replies.

From what I have looked into, the following nations fingerprint visitor arrivals:

    USA (including transfer passengers)
    Japan
    South Korea
    Cambodia
    Saudi Arabia
    Argentina
    Ghana

Malaysia started fingerprinting visitors but has recently stopped for the time being.

Apparently Indonesia and Thailand do have some type of fingerprint facilities in place at main airports but it seems this is not applied often - probably the process takes too long.

United Arab Emirates iris scans all visitors

European Union has plans to fingerprint visitors in the coming years.

You can probably assume all biometric data collected will be shared.
