Interesting list of replacements being floated last year:

Didn't know UC has 191,000 employees.

I hope every time she transits airports she gets sent to secondary screening, alarms the machine that detects for explosives, gets another scope & grope and gets "selected" at the gate for another "random" pat-down.

Other than that, I wish her well.

Admiral Allen was in my store about a year ago. (He is from Tucson) I mentioned the respect he earned as Commandant. Asked if he had any future plans. His response was, "No, I am retired" and went on to explain that he was planning on being retired for a long long time. I would be really surprised if he were to show up on the short list.

Another that might show up thought. Richard Carmona, former Surgeon General and Senatorial Candidate from Arizona.

My reason for Admiral Allen is completely on behalf of goalie-sis as she is career ex-CG and had the utmost respect for him as to use her words, "he always was for us" (meaning those without scrambled eggs on their covers) and to me, that says something about the brass

    Map.

Back to the topic. Mapwife and I were discussing (maybe somewhat tongue in cheek) who would be a replacement. Since Napolitano was a former Federal Prosecutor before being Governor of a Border State, the name Ted Cruz came up. He was Atty Gen for Texas before he became Senator so he does have Border State experience and Prosecutorial experience. Plus it would remove a big pain in the Butt for the Administration.

Other names were John Mica since he thinks he knows best the workings of Airports.
    Or possibly John Pistole.

Those are probably the tongue firmly in cheek. Except for maybe Pistole since he is already well known and disliked.

But the best would probably be someone on the order or Ray LaHood.

Although I do like Thad Allen.

    Just thoughts for discussion.

Does she have any academic credentials beyond her JD degree? Like any academic research publications? IMO it's a surprising choice for UC, but would have been less shocking for a place like Texas A&M. Only a few schools have a history of picking Presidents/Chancellors from nonacademic circles, regardless of the management or policy experience of the candidate.
