If you have an uneven figure of E-Voucher. How should they be used most effectively?
Wait for September until LH uses their long-haul jets intra-german or intra-european
please enlighten me.
LH argued that the intra-german 747/340-assignment in Sep 10 happened due to large market needs because of some large fairs.
So maybe this will also be the case this year?
But this short flights for an E-Voucher upgrade?
I think one can use E-Vouchers on UA, too, so with one e-boucher you could upgrade a transcon like JFK-LAX/SFO.
This a good idea.
Ask for an extra evoucher as part of service recovery compensation instead of miles.
Where does one find the rules on this, like:
- Must it be an LH flight number (i.e., a code share)?
- Can one upgrade using LH e-vouchers on a UA TATL on UA metal? If so, how?
I think you can use them on any *A airline participating in the *A mileage upgrade program. Same rules apply as normal - ie 1 for shorthaul and 2 for longhaul.
Great! Thanks! I have eight of them sitting in my account waiting to expire. Didn't want to use them on LH intra-Europe, and most of my TATL is on United. Looks as though I can find a use for them now.
Does anyone have experience trying to upgrade on United TATL with LH e-vouchers? In particular, are the eligible booking classes the same as for upgrades with LH and UA miles, or would they be the same as for United SWUs?
I would find it valuable to gate-upgrade a longer intra-european segment in case of a very full flight where I'd like to have some room to sleep or work.
Yes- this is a great idea! UA PS service especially- upgrade Y>C or C>F.
Now that AC is part of the upgrade program- would it be possible to use on YYZ/YVR for example?
In theory, probably yes, however:
1) you need to book a flight in booking class B or Y (which are prohibitively expensive unless that segment is part of an int´l itinerary; buying a discounted business class seat is often cheaper)
2) you´ll have a very hard time finding availability in booking class I (award boooking class, which is also used for upgrades afaik) on the YYZ-YVR route (IME it´s easier to find award space in I on the TATL segment than on the intra-NA transcon segments on AC)
While AC has a great product (especially on the widebodies), I´d probably recommend using the e-voucher on UA which should be much easier and cheaper.
Does anyone happen to know the necessary booking classes for upgrading a United domestic flight using a single eVoucher? I also have an odd number and need to figure out what I'll do with the surplus one.
yes, i would also be interested in this. I have 1 orphan eVoucher that I would like to use within the US, with LAX/SFO -> JFK as the most likely candidate.
It would be nice if they were transferable and then one could barter them...
I can't find anything about this on the M&M site, so I'll ask here...
Which booking classes are eligible for upgrades with an LH e-voucher on UA? I'm going to fly UA BOS-SFO in february, most likely in booking class L (discounted economy). Can this be done?
Best way to check if upgrades are possible, and available, is to use the link in M&M website. There's a specific mini-site to request the upgrade and you can choose between miles and vouchers, where applicable.
For LH bookings is much easier: just use Manage My Booking.
Now from the mobile I can't be more precise.
This link? www.miles-and-more.com/starupgrade
Wasn't easy to find... It's well hidden on the M&M site.
Yes, it's that one.
Maybe a bit out of the topic, but I have one eVoucher left and would like to hear if there is a way to transfer a eVoucher from another SEN/HON member. If so then the quest is to find one and get it transferred as I am planning a TATL trip and would like to try the new first class product.
Thanks in advance.
No way that I am aware of
Thanks for the help - I must then wait for two new ones next year when I requalify for SEN.
