Planning a European trip with 3 nights stay in ROM. Flying into FCO. What is the best use of my Starwood points?

Depends on what you value, but we've had enjoyable stays at both the Westin Excelsior and St. Regis.

While pricey on points, we've had a handful of excellent stays at the St. Regis Rome. I would highly recommend.

The Westin Excelsior can be anywhere from wonderful to depressing, depending on the room. Love the location but the variation in rooms makes this an unpredictable choice. Some rooms are bright and airy, some are dark and dismal. If you stay here, look at the room before accepting it to be sure you will be happy. We used to stay here on every trip but have now moved over the Marriott Flora (just 1 block away) where the rooms are smaller but we have never had a bad room. Too bad SPG no longer has the Hotel Eden - that was our favorite.

Just got done with another truly excellent stay at the STR Rome. It's pricey as far as points go, no doubt. But, it's become our go-to in Rome.
