I saw that this was asked a while back an no one chimed in so I'll give it a go.

I was looking at all of the Club Carlson options in London, England. There are quite a few! The best redemption rate is the May Fair, but i wasn't sure if anyone had any suggestions on the best location? I would be ok getting a lower cents/per/mile rate if I was in a better location. Anybody have any first hand experience?

    Some of the options include:

    Park Plaza Riverbank London

I was thinking the same thing; I narrowed my choices to the following 3 (I am planing a 6N in London, so 2N then hop). Why you might ask? Because they're very close to Tube Stations (or so it seems on the map)

    Park Plaza Victoria London
    239 Vauxhall Bridge Road · London SW1V 1EQ UK - England
    Radisson Blu Edwardian Hampshire Hotel
    31-36 Leicester Square · London WC2H 7LH UK - England
Radisson Blu Edwardian Leicester Square Hotel
    3-6 Martin Street · London WC2H 7HL UK - England

I recently put my folks up at the Mayfair for a few nights of sightseeing and I got positive feedback on both the property and its location.

Granted it was just the two of them, but they had no trouble walking and riding around the sights of London from the Mayfair.

    have fun in London!

Perfect! That's what I wanted to hear. Although I said I didn't mind getting a lower redemption value on my points if there was a cheaper hotel with a better location, on the inside I still wanted to maximize that redemption value. No surprise that the most expensive Club Carlson hotel looks the nicest AND has a great/best location. That is probably why it is priced the way it is at almost $500 a night :D

It's their flagship and they want it to stand above the "BLU" moniker.

Yea, I was a little worried when I went back and looked at the Hotel's website. But every time I am on Club Carlson's site it shows me 50k for a night.

You figure the signup bonus from the co branded card plus a little extra spend (plus the free night after 2 award nights) gets you 3 nights that would normally cost $1500. Pretty good deal!

MP Member "DAD TO GO" has written a great review about The May Fair Hotel from earlier this year:

I loved the Rad Blu Edwardian Leicester Square when I stayed there. They upgraded me (even though it was an award stay) to the largest suite I've ever been in. The location was great for night life, and great food right around the corner.

The May Fair is by far the best property.

Another vote for The May Fair. The location is great, and being steps away from bus/tube stops and having two supermarkets near by is super convenient.

What would be everyone's second favorite? Hopping between hotels to get a couple free nights! Staying at the Mayfair the first 2 nights. Where should I stay next in the Club Carlson brand?

We (family and I) stayed at the Westminster bridge park plaza and greatly enjoyed it. Nice breakfast, good sushi restaurant - can't beat the view! Also, it is one of the few hotels in London that has 2 queen beds in some rooms, thus accommodating a family of 4 (yes, it is still tight but at London prices we make do).

Was thinking of staying here but all they have currently is 75K a night upgraded rooms so I booked Mercer Street because the locations seems good and I figure I can always change it if someone has strong feeling about somewhere else.

Just used 100,000 points for 3 nights at the May Fair. 2 nights for the points and one free night. This is a deal I certainly like. This will be the perfect end to our 4 week trip to Italy! Just signed up for the card and the combo of the initial signup (85,000 pts.) and Christmas shopping added the points up. Being new to all this, does one automatically get an upgrade, if available, or do you have to ask for it? Thanks,

You should get an upgrade but I plan on contacting each hotel I am staying at on my trip in May to see if we can be upgraded for our special occasion. I also will have CC Gold and Hyatt Diamond during my stays but it can't hurt to write and tell them why this is special and how much you would appreciate an upgrade upon arrival.
