Where would you say is great place to visit that has some nice local brews?

Personally I love Toohey's New on draught so I'd vote for Australia. Scotland also ranks up there with a freshly pulled McEwan's (sp?).

Not exactly what you asked for, but the best 'quality' beer selection under one roof, IMO, is at Tornado in SFs lower Haight. Great selection of West Coast and Belgian beers...

Right, not sure whether the op is looking for destinations or great beer places. In this posters humble opinion, its one of the best times for beer in many many years, at least in the US.
In NYC: Jimmy's No 43 on 7th street (Between 2nd and 3rd Ave) is amazing, Beer Table in Brooklyn is also amazing.

Maybe we can hijack this thread to make it best beer bars/breweries in X.

what a great idea for a DO

I don't really drink, but I enjoy an occasional beer and so far have attended or tried to organize brewery tour events.

Been to XXX (Fourex Brewery) tour in Brisbane, Australia; Brooklyn Brewery, in NYC... Yuengling Brewery, in Pennsylvania... a few others I think that I can't remember... wanted to go to Estrella Levante Brewery in Murcia but they were not giving tours in January... will also try to attempt to do a tour of Tiger Brewery in Singapore.

Great excuse to travel randomly if you do enjoy a drink!

Hey, Amsterdam is a beautyful city! Even without coffee(-shops)!

Anybody there for Queensday? Remember: Just one open bottle / can of alcohol!

    McEwans nice??? It is crap!

If you like real ale Vs mass produced stuff there are a lot of fine brewers in England and all very regional.

A lot of people like Belgium beer but it is too strong and sweet in general for me.

I'd have to say hands down San Diego not only because it is one of the best places in the world for a vacation or to live but also because it has some of the best microbreweries around (Karl Strauss and Stone).

  19. Germany has some great beer, but people are friendlier and actually smile in Prague.

Microbrew is almost always good, but it doesn't really require a plane ticket.

For a beer destination, either Germany, particularly MUC, or Belgium.

As countries both Germany and Belgium work for me.

In the U.S., I'm a fan of several places on the west coast including SAN and PDX for local micros and of Fort Collins, CO for having three micro-breweries located within an easy walk....or stumble...of each other.
