Berlin Tegel to receive Euros 20 million makeover
It's certainly a tired airport. Arrived via TXL back in August and it was far dumpier than I remembered it being 10 years ago... almost as if it hasn't been maintained at all.
Probably hadn't. If you were planning to tear down your house next year, how much maintenance would you be doing for non-essential things?
I agree, but it felt like even *essential* things hadn't been maintained. When we were there, none of the elevators down to the street worked, so to get to the car rental facilities you had to carry all of your bags down the stairs. There were 3-4 couples that must have been in their 60's trying to carry huge bags down the stairs.
Not sure what the european version of the ADA is, but I'm not sure how you remain compliant for persons with disabilities when none of the elevators work.
Agreed, elevators should be maintained (people can also get stuck if hey malfunction, which could be a safety issue).
