Be wary when the travel industry says a policy is ‘for your own good’

The author of this article gives plenty of good examples to watch out for when you are told that "we are doing this for your benefit", including:

    - no more free WiFi in hotels
    - paying an airline to check your bags is an option to save you money
    - airfares won't rise with the AA/US merger
    - Delta Airlines introduces a completely nonrefundable class of seats because customers are clamoring for that option
    - mandatory resort fees mean that all your expenses will be covered
