Bathtub best place to leave wet towels on check-out day;)

If hotel housekeepers had their wish, where would they ask guests to leave their used towels on check-out day?

Would it be the bathroom floor, where 62% of the more than 3,880 Hotel Check-In voters said you leave your used towels?

No, according to several hotel housekeepers and housekeeping experts.
Hotel Check-In checked in with housekeepers since so many of you asked about the proper etiquette, largely driven out of concern for housekeepers. Among the 59 comments on the original story, Hotel Check-In reader KINGDAVID wrote:

"Cleaning hotel rooms is a tough job, so I try to make it as easy as I can for the housekeepers."

I usually hang my bath towel and leave hand towels on the counter. The only thing that generally stays on the floor is the "floor mat" towel they have on the side of the tub.

I've been "trained" by hotels to leave towels for the laundry on the floor if a hamper isn't provided. When checking out, I don't like to leave towels on the counter by the sink because doing that would make it easier for me to leave some articles behind when I do my final "have I forgotten anything" room check.

I'm guilty of just leaving them wherever- but I admit I do the same thing at home as well. But in the future I'll try to remember to toss them in the tub for the housekeeper. It's a little thing, and if it makes their lives easier, so much the better.

I've always put them in the bathtub or shower stall.

Glad that I've done my part already, usually will leave all used towels in the bathtub when I leave the room in the morning and after check out. The only thing that stays on the floor is the "bathroom mat" towel.

I usually leave all used towels on the counter beside the sink and if there is no space, the bathtub. I rationalize it as one less time the housekeeping person has to bend down (and less stress on the back).
