I am wanting to start building some USAir points without churning the card. Anyone run into any particular issues with manufacturing spend, or anything else? PM me if needed.

    Thanks in advance.

They are very easy to deal with. The only problem I ever had was in churning. Usage has never been a problem with them.

Couple of years back I applied for their premium card (25-30K bonus miles) but they approved me for the one with bonus of only 10K miles. The customer service was non-existent and no one was of any help. At the end of the statement period, they posted the bonus miles; I cancelled the card, had the annual charges reversed and kept the miles. From the recent posts, they seem to have improved and are not doing the bait and switch. So, good luck!

Clarify, I already have a card so it is just maximizing points at this time.

What will be the fate of this card if/once the merger takes place?

Citibank has a deep relationship with AA and will probably be the survivor after the merger. The Barclays card may be switched to a Citibank card or possibly to one of Barclay's other products.

So would it be a good idea to try and churn this and get a second one before the merger?

I tired to churn(for hubby) and got you have enough credit with us already. 740 fico score and no balance. I will try with my name only.

Getting a second (or more) USAir card has never been a sure thing. Many people have been denied. It's always been a YMMV thing.

I too was given the same excuse for denial in one of my churns when I already had the personal card and tried to get the business one - 'you already have enough credit'.

Does the denial show up on your credit report? Does that count as a hard pull?

Edit: I googled this when I got home and got my answer. Still a pull, denial does not show up specifically.
