    My experience on the new United is quite similar. I was reasonably
    pleased by both the old United and the old Continental, but this
    combination works about as well as you would expect a chimera to,
    i.e., not at all.

    To me, airline service starts when you get out of the car at the airport and continues until you reach your destination, not just what happens on the plane.

    Many of my trips are on the order or 500 -- 600 miles and I often spend more time at the airport, than on the plane, particularly when there are IRROPS. In one case, this past year, I encountered an 8 hour mx delay for a flight that took 2 hours and because all the other fights were jammed, had to wait the thing out.

    I wound up complaining about my experience and did get some bonus miles.
