The DL training gave us a much greater sense of security, because we got to see the thorough emphasis they put on safety and maintenance.

It's nice to know that you can open an aircraft door if needed.

The DL event was also fun. I wonder whether that would be true of doing the BA course with a bunch of strangers, maybe including some who are afraid to fly.

Thinking this scenario through, I realised that my usual travel attire of skirt-suit and court shoes isn't quite all that practical for leaping out of airplane-hatches. Must rethink.

Having been a pilot and survived a small plane crash when I was younger (Fortunately a low speed landing incident) I always get nervous in landings that are rough with a "hot shot navy carrier type" pilot ... But reality tells me the real dangers in flying are not landings but take-offs and mid-air incidents. Those two situations have very low survivability, but landings can be survived ..... if you stay calm and do what you were instructed to do by the crew who have been very well trained to deal with the situation.

Have they smoothed out the slides to remove the sandpaper-like feeling leading to friction-like asburns when departing the aircraft? For $265 I'd hope so.

(Just joking, but perhaps use some sort of non-flammable greaseification to make the egress smoother).
