My uncle is trying to book an award ticket from London to Chile using BA miles. The best he's come up with is BA/Iberia in economy for 70,000 miles and about 400UKP in fuel charges and taxes.

I'm sure there must be a better option, but I am not at all familiar with BA's program. Any tips?

    Thanks for any help! ;)

That's the route I would take via Madrid as separate tickets. However, you do run the risk of problems with connections if flights delayed/cancelled. I would make sure you have amply time between arriving in MAD and departing for SCL (personally I'd arrive the night before).
