If you have an American Express Platinum card you can get TripIt Pro for free and not only for the first year.

You get a personalized email to you if you're eligible (avis first or higher).

Nice touch to get one, but don't find the difference between trip it pro to fix that things that I don't like about trip it in general.

You **may** get, I suppose. I am Avis First and Avis PC and did not get such an email. Not feeling the love.

The large issue seems to be just speed. I first heard of this freebie from someone else a few weeks ago. My own email (PC member) came only a couple of days ago.

I don't have the Plat AMEX, but I do remember a few weeks ago that I set up the AMEX app on the iPhone, and through my SPG AMEX card, I had the option of paying $35 or $40 (forget which one) instead of the $50 for Pro.

Haven't pulled the trigger on Pro, not sure I will. My trips are not that complicated.

You need Amex Platinum in order to get it free. However with the benefit being discontinued, you might not be able to register.
