One would hope that if the room door is deadbolted, only a few hotel employees, such as the assistant manager on duty, have access to a key or other way to open the door.

I worry that far too many minimum wage transitory short term hotel employees have access to the computer system or other information that can identify which rooms are occupied by one female.

IIRC Malaysia has a dual legal system so if either the rapist or his victim is Muslim, that could affect how this crime is handled.

Just curious, but does anyone know where the RC is located in KL? near the Petronius Towers or the station for the airport train? I can't picture it at all.

The Ritz-Carlton is located beside the JW Marriott on Bintang Walk, the golden Triangle and is surrounded by other hotels incl. the Westin and the Grand Millennium, plus lots of shopping incl. the Starhill Gallery. When coming into KL with the KLIA Express we would usually take a taxi from the train station, Sentral to a hotel which is located here. This area is not really near the Petronas Towers, but it can be walked via elevated walkways maybe in 10 / 15 minutes, depends on speed and luggage. The Petronas Towers have their own MTR train station. It's more about shopping, it's a very busy district where the hotel is located. Lots of nightlife and restaurants too here in this particular area.
