Australian plane makes emergency landing after elderly passenger seizes controls
"The pilot was treated for shock, and discharged."
Well considering the Pilot was 23 and had a lot to live for.
I would have politely asked if I could fly it for a while before doing so. The young pilot must have really had his hands full while trying to fly the plane and all the while wrestling with the upstart wannabee oldster who tried to take control of the aircraft. Kudos to the pilot for landing it safely.
thumbs up to the pilot and the safe landing! That would be a disconcerting experience to encounter.
I wonder if the RAAF would have become involved if the pilot became incapacitated.
Possibly since it's a hijacking but the RAAF wouldn't know unless the pilot radioed ATC and informed them of such.
As long as he could have managed to squawk 7500 or 7700 before he became incapacitated, they would have figured it out.
