Has anyone had any success with this from Australia? I am a new starter and have been trying to read up on as much as I can. Unfortunately for me, the majority of our friends are in the US, so things are slightly different (but essentially the same principals apply).

Just looking for some help and guidance.

    Many Thanks, Paul

  2. I'm Australian, but have lived in the US for 14 yrs, the US programs are much better as it's a much more competitive larger market, QF is a terrible program with outrageous redemption levels, if you can utilise an American address you'd be better off with American for OW, UA for *A, same for credit card sign up bonuses etc, not much way to get around that unless you can get a US social security number

Excuse the potentially dumb question, but what is "OW" and "*A"?

  4. no worries, One World and Star Alliance, the two major airline alliances, QF and AA are OW, UA is *A

On Milepoint if you highlight an abbreviation the meaning of it pops up in the upper right hand corner of the page. It is a very helpful feature on this site when starting out. Also there is a glossary.

    Enjoy!

For whatever reason, I seem to have subscribed to a weekly newsletter specific for Australian frequent-flyers called the Australian FrequentFlyer, which I get by email. I suspect that much information on the success of frequent-flyer or other loyalty programs Down Under could be found there. Dig in!

    BTW, welcome to MP!

Wow, I feel dumb! I never even knew that! I have noticed the popup when I have accidentally highlighted stuff and it said no definition found. But I ignored it. That is great info to know!!

Just an FYI- I did at least know about the glossary. Just not the highlighting abbreviations.;)
