I am on a status challenge with United in which I have to obtain 35,000 actual flown elite qualifying miles by March 26.

I am planning on booking a round trip to Sydney,Australia from Jan 26 to Feb 3.

Should I book this now or will the price come down if I wait until Jan 2?
    Worried about it going up.

Also, where else would you all go to based in Los Angeles anywhere that United or Continental flies?

    Thanks, and keep on milepointing!

Hmm, that's still summer in AU. And your booking window is short. I would book now, HOWEVER...

if your goal is to get to 35K as cheaply as possible, AU may not be your best bet. If you are willing to connect through SFO, you will usually find better cpm (cents per mile) to HKG or ICN.

But if time and as few flights as possible is the goal, then SYD.

Whenever I fly up to NRT or TPE I route MEL-SYD-SFO-ORD-LGA-ORD-SFO-TPE-NRT.... all UA metal and pricing usually comes through 1000- taxes included
