Was thinking of taking a quick weekend trip into Atlanta on Amtrak. Question... What is the area like near the station? I was thinking of coming in, and walking to a Marriott, within 2 miles away.

However, I dont want to get shot...... So, yeah.....

    Thanks for your feedback.

So sorry I didn't catch this earlier. The Amtrak station is not in a bad area of town. I used to work about three blocks from there and walked everywhere. It's in an odd spot sort of on the side of I-85 and not right in a really big business area but still a very busy part of the city. Especially if you arrive during the day, you'll be fine to walk. I know there is a Residence Inn less than a mile away. I'd have to look to see if any other Marriotts are in the area but you won't have to walk any side streets for RI. I stayed there about 9 years ago so I really can't comment on the hotel. My company may still have a lingering corporate rate there.
