In line with its consistent effort to support its airline partners, Athens International Airport introduces for the winter period 2012-2013, four substantial incentives, aiming to support airlines and incentivize them on sustaining or increasing traffic during the winter low traffic season, amid the current extremely adverse period for the Greek economy and the aviation sector. Further to the introduction of the new, targeted incentives scheme, the airport’s financial support to the airlines corresponds to an approximately 30% discount on AIA’s aeronautical charges for the winter period. AIA’s new incentives are not focused strictly on incentivizing airlines’ developmental decisions, but they also take into account traffic developments during this difficult period. This initiative follows the introduction of the airport’s special summer incentives (in force during April-October 2012), which correspond to approximately 20% discounts on AIA’s aeronautical charges. With these measures, AIA participates even more in its airline partners’ risk, while at the same time the airport’s existing developmental incentives scheme continues.
