We were driving up the freeway past Everett yesterday and saw it climbing out. At first I thought it was a QF or VS 744 because of the red tail, but it looked funny from the ground - too long. Mystery solved.

It's parked at BFI for now; if I have time maybe I'll run down there and take some pix to post here.

Why do you say that? Just curious.

I am only referring to the exterior aesthetics. I find the A380 to be squat and chunky. I find the 747 to be graceful

Thanks. I was curious. It is quite hard IMO to not admire the 747 aesthetically. My personal favorite has always been the short, stubby, magnificent 747SP. I used to fly in it from Tehran to JFK on both PanAm and IranAir, the two launch customers. here is one that was delivered in July 1979 and is still in service:

Update - I've been by BFI twice in the past few days (and even had my camera + long lens in the car) but haven't seen it. I presume they've got it in the big hanger (w/doors) or else it's out scaring the locals under the test patterns.

I found the last sentence in the article to be very encouraging. I really want to fly in the 787 Dreamliner!

What a beautiful bird. I always love when the 747s come in low over my house and you can really see how graceful they are in flight. Thanks for posting the link.

Can't wait for LH's inaugural flight. Planning on an MR for that one.

I usually love technology, but I'm actually apprehensive of the 787's extensive and unproven use of composites. I'm sure I'll enjoy flying it in 5-10 years. And I'm sure my fears will be proven misplaced, too.

I love the 747's and I'm looking forward to flying on a 787.
The a380, on the other hand, I have my doubts about- not for safety reasons, but for sardine can reasons- just too many people to load and unload.
