I thought I'd kick off a first photo thread for Egypt. Please Note: I know Egypt is in Africa, but it is often associated with Middle East on other websites. I have no problem if this should be in Africa forum.

I only spent about 1-1/2 days in the Cairo area, so I missed many sites that I hope to get to on a return trip. Looking forward to seeing the great photos I'm sure others on MilePoint have and will share!

    Ancient City of Memphis.
Colossal limestone statue of Ramses II.

The gentleman working at the site smiled and agreed when I asked him if he would be in my photo. Doesn't look too happy in it, though.

    Solar Boat Museum. Must See!

The enclosed museum (there is an entry fee) contains a 43-metre-long boat found in a pit buried by Khufu's Pyramid. Was discovered in 1954 and took 14 years to rebuild from 1200 pieces of wood found.

Alot of work is being conducted on the Sphinx too.
