    Hi all,

I'm considering applying for the Diamond Challenge/trial. If I do get approved for the challenge, are the Diamond benefits applicable for upcoming stays?

I bought into a few stays through promotion rates, would it be necessary to call up the hotel to ask for Diamond benefits?

    Thanks!

As soon as you are approved for a challenge, your HGP status will change to Diamond. AFAIK, there should be no need to call up the hotel, as your status should show up through your GP number (reflected on your reservations), so the associated benefits should apply.

Even if you do not succeed in securing Diamond status through the challenge, the confirmed suite upgrades you have received stay in your account. You can apply them through their expiration date (don't need to be Diamond to do this) for stays as far out as the hotel publishes rates.

    Good to know. Thanks, Gary.
Hopefully I can get a decent room to write up a trip report/review of the property (which seems sparse beyond sites like TripAdvisor, etc.). :)

As a Hyatt Diamond, i think you'll get more than a decent room ;).

You should be aware that you can't use Diamond Suite Upgrades on certain rates, especially if not booked through Hyatt. Similar qualifications apply to rooms booked on points and the use of points for upgrades.

Gotcha. I booked through Hyatt.com directly, but it was during one of its "Golden window of opportunity" promotions. I know the "upgrade to suite w/ points" won't work for promotion rate, but don't know if the same concept applies for the Diamond Suite Upgrade.

Diamond suite upgrades don't require the Hyatt Daily Rate but some discount rates and booking channels won't work. It's best to ask about your specific rate by calling.
