ok folks, this past fall was such a good time, that the Horse & Bourbon Do is on again when Keeneland has it's spring races in April.

Weekend this Spring will be April 5-7, 2013.

It is hoped that there will be a tour to a horse farm or two, as well as at least one distillery tour on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, and of course attending the races at Keeneland for an afternoon. Oh, did I forget dinners/drinks? that too !:)

ALL ARE WELCOME !!! One can attend as many or as few of the activities as they wish, an itinerary will be forthcoming a couple months before the dates, but most likely Fri April 5 will consist of going to a horse farm w/an insider, dinner. Sat will be a distillery tour or two, lunch/dinner, prob drinks at a local FTers house. Sun will be the races (start at 1pm). ALL THIS IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE DAYS (for instance perhaps Sat will be race day).

Pick any hotel you wish as Lexington is a small town. A number of us stayed at the Four Points last year and I plan to do the same in April.

    Who's interested?

Thanks Willie, I will definitely try to get to one or more of the events. If you've got any questions that a local may better answer just let me know! One thought, is if you stay downtown we have a trolley bus that runs directly from downtown out to keeneland (clean and reasonably priced). Sure beats sitting in traffic and worrying about drinking and driving. Our bus system is lextran and there are also 2 free trolleys that circle the downtown area. Hilton and hyatt are pretty much the only points hotels downtown and I've Pricelined the hyatt for $45 before. If you are looking to stay somewhere completely unique, we also have a castle that is only about 5 minutes from keeneland and more conveniently located for distillery tours, google Tom post castle Kentucky and that should bring it up. Hope this helps!

cool, look forward to meeting you. FYI, one of the attendees for this meetup grew up in Lexington, his parents are being gracious hosts (again) and will allow our group to have drinks/dinner at their house (I'm doing the grilling/cooking). This most likely will be Saturday night.
"host" hotel is the Four Points just because it was a cat 1 and so darn cheap award wise.

I did read that the Four Points is going up a category, so if anyone is planning on booking the Lexington Four Points on points, do it now.

Last Fall the group went to the Maker's Mark, Buffalo Trace, & Town Branch distillery tours.

For this meetup we'll visit Four Roses and Heaven Hill.
