    I just booked a reservation from IND-SFO-NRT-SIN & SIN-NRT-DEN-IND. I have <10,000 miles with United (and doesn't have status).

The regular economy seats are terrible on the United flights, so I'm thinking of upgrading it. The more plausible option seems to be applying for the United MileagePlus to get the 30k needed, plus $600 to upgrade. I know this sounds really expensive, but if it meant a more comfortable flight, it just might be worth it!

What do you think? Or should I just suck it up, and sit in the middle seat for 20+ hours. :(

    Thanks!

The 30k points only gets you one way in business class and that's only if the upgrade clears. I don't think the cash + points is worth it but I also generally don't sit in middle seats across the ocean (though I did EWR-OSL-EWR recently in E+ and survived). Paying up to E+ is much less money and no miles and might be a decent option as well.

Alright, that was a painless process. Just applied for the card, cancelled previous reservation, and booked with the new card (which was saved w/ acct). And since the fare was more than $1,000, I'm assuming I've met the minimum spending. Does anyone know how long does it take for the bonus pts to post (30k for this instance)?

That actually sounds like the better option. Oh well, I guess I might as well start to collect United miles now. :)

Okay, not wanting to sound fickle minded. But I'd initially paid for the first booking with the AA card, as I was trying to meet the minimum on that card. Now with the cancellation, I'm tagging on a new CC, and having to try to meet the min spending for AA before mid-June. Is this the better option?

Go out to Castleton Mall, and then to the Fashion Mall , Gift Center, buy some VISA GIFT CARDS, not AMEX, 2 @ $500.00 each $5.00 cost cell phone put a PIN number on them, go to Kroger's get 1000 MO FOR 70 cents and deposit the money in the bank, Less than $6.00 per 1000 miles...

Repeat next day or later in the day till spend is meet.

Lot of Simon Malls and Kroger stores in Indy. And the sky is the limit...

Hope never to see you in the cheap seats...

If you are in Indy...Chase United, Sapphire, Ink, and a few others X-fers points
